Mount Street Garden
The garden pathways were laid out on the former Parish burial site in 1889 and the layout has not been changed since. The garden takes its name from Mount Field, which included Oliver’s Mount, the remains of fortifications erected during the English Civil war.
The bronze drinking fountain of a rearing horse was designed by Sir Ernest George and Harold Peto in 1891 for Henry Lofts, an estate agent; and recently restored by local residents.
